Update: Covid-19

The Covid-19 emergency has heavily affected teaching and research activities across the University of Oxford, including those related to Iberian History. Since April 2020, the Iberian History Seminar and the Reading Group on Iberian History (Medieval & Early Modern) have been suspended, but we plan to resume them from January 2021. Meanwhile, online meetings have kept being held. Before summer, our discussions focused on primary sources, including the Copiosa relacion de lo sucedido en el tiempo que duro la epidemia en la grande y augustissima ciudad de Sevilla, año de 1649, a printed report on the plague that hit Seville in 1649, edited by Pedro López de San Román Ladrón de Guevara.

Looking ahead, three meetings will take place this term, with the participation of international guests. They are open to everyone's participation and we hope they will encourage scholarly conversation among those studying or researching Iberian History in these difficult times.
