Claire Gilbert – Imagining Continuity: Dialects, Dialogues, and the Search for a Common Tongue across Iberia and Morocco

Claire Gilbert is an Associate Professor in the Department of History at Saint Louis University. She is a specialist in the history of late medieval and early modern Spain and the Western Mediterranean, with a particular focus on the social history of language, translation, and multilingualism. Her publications include the book In Good Faith: Arabic Translation and Translators in Early Modern Spain (University of Pennsylvania Press, 2020).
