Henrique Leitão – Global Lines and Nautical Cartography in the Iberian Oceanic Expansion

Henrique Leitão is Senior Researcher at the Centro Interuniversitário de História das Ciências e da Tecnologia (CIUHCT) and Chair of the Department of History and Philosophy of Science at the University of Lisbon. His main interest is in the early modern history of exact sciences (mathematics, astronomy, navigation science, physics, etc.) with special but not exclusive reference to Portugal. He is currently editing the complete works of Pedro Nunes. His books include Savants ou artisans: À qui doit-on la modernité scientifique? (Foundation Calouste Gulbenkian, 2016) and the edited volumes Renaissance Craftsmen and Humanistic Scholars: Circulation of Knowledge between Portugal and Germany (Peter Lang, 2017) and Atravessando a Porta do Pacífico: Roteiros e Relatos da Travessia do Estreito de Magalhães, 1520-1560 (2020).
