Laura León Llerena is an Associate Professor in the School of Modern Languages and Cultures at Durham University. Her research concentrates on the circulation of knowledge produced by and about Indigenous peoples from the sixteenth to the eighteenth centuries. She has published on translation and colonisation of Indigenous languages, media, material culture, and notions of the sacred. Her first book, Reading the Illegible: Indigenous Writing and the Limits of Colonial Hegemony in the Andes, was published by the University of Arizon Press in 2023.
