Mercedes García-Arenal is Professor in the Department of Jewish and Islamic Studies at the CSIC, Madrid. She is the Coordinator of the ERC-Sinergy Grant "The European Qur'an. Islamic Scripture in European Culture and Religion 1150-1850." A world-leading scholar in the field of interfaith relations and the history of minorities, her publications include (with G. Wiegers) A Man of Three Worlds: Samuel Pallache, a Moroccan Jew between Catholic and Protestant Europe (2003) and (with F. Rodríguez Mediano) The Orient in Spain: Converted Muslims, the Forged Lead Books of Granada and the Rise of Orientalism (2013).
