Stuart M. McManus is Assistant Professor of Pre-Modern World History at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He works on a broad set of topics ranging from the history of Humanism in global perspective to legal history and the history of slavery. His publications include the book Empire of Eloquence: The Classical Rhetorical Tradition in Colonial Latin America and the Iberian World (CUP, 2021). His new book, The World of 1619, is under contract with Harvard University Press.
